Tulane pulls away and edges UMaine women 42-34

In a game with both teams shooting below 30% from the floor and below 30% from beyond the arc and below 70% from the line the Tulane Green Wave finally pulled away from the Maine women 42-34 at the Memorial Gym’s “The Pit”.

Both teams had a very tough night shooting. Maine lead 12-10 at the end of 1 quarter, but only scored 4 points in the second quarter to Tulane’s 9 as the Green Wave lead just 19-16 at the half.

Maine hit a three at the buzzer to end the third stanza and took a 30-28 lead. However, the Tulane team held Maine to just 5 points in the final fourth quarter and scored 14 points themselves for the 42-34 win.

Tulane was 14 for 49 from the floor for 28.6% and Maine went 14 for 53 for 26.4%

From the 3 point line Tulane was 4 for 15 for 26.7% and Maine was a dismal 3 for 23 for just 13%.

From the line Tulane was 10-15 for 66.7% and Maine went 3 for 7 for just 42.9%.

Tulane edged Maine 40-38 in rebounds and they committed 10 turnovers to Maine’s 13.

Tulane had 11 assists to Maine’s 8.

Tulane committed 11 personal fouls and Maine had 14.

Tulane had 2 players in double figures as Kolby Morgan scored 16 Meredith Schulte chipped in 10. Maine only had one player in double figures Tanesha Suttton with 10.

Both teams only had 14 field goals and only 7 3 pointers for 38 attempts between them in a defense dominated game.

Maine plays the loser of the Dayton-Harvard game at 4:00pm Saturday and Tulane plays the winner at 2:00pm in the championship game of the Maine Tip Off Tournament.
