Boston College men’s basketball team opens up with a 85-65 win over UMaine

The 2017-18 edition of the Boston College men’s Eagles team defeated UMaine 85 to 65 to open up the season at their home court on Chestnut Hill.

Boston College lead by 7, 35 to 28 at the half and then outscored the Bears 50-37 in he second half as they dominated the paint scoring 48 points to Maine’s 18. They also controlled the backboards out rebounding Maine 51-32.

BC’s size controlled the boards and the paint throughout the game which was the big difference in the outcome of the game.

BC was 33-68 from the floor for 48.5% to Maine’s 21-59 for 35.6%.

From the 3 point line BC went 4-18 for just 22.2 as Maine went 11-32 for 35.4%.

BC took only 26.5% of their field goal attempts as 3’s on 18 of 68 while Maine shot 54.1% of their field goal attempts as 3’s going 32 of 59.

From the charity stripe BC was 15-19 for 78.6% and Maine went 12 for 21 for 57.1%

BC committed 8 turnovers to Maine’s 11.

BC and Maine both had 13 assists.

BC committed 18 fouls to Maine’s 20.

Maine’s bench outscored BC’s 21 to 18.

BC outscored Maine 19-12 on 2nd chance points.

For BC Ky Bowman, Jerome Robinson and Deontae Hawkins each had 18 while Johncarlos Reyes added 12 and Jordan Chatman had 11.

For Maine Ilija Stojilikovic scored 14, Aaron Calixe 12 and Danny Evans 11.

Maine’s next game is on the road to Texas Tech on Tuesday, November 14th.
