Combined Stats both teams below:

……….FGA..FGM.3A…3M….FSA.FSM..TP

Totals141……64….56….17….30…..21….166

.Percentages  45.4%….30.3%…….70%

Took 56–3 point attempts out of 141 FGA  for a percentage of 3 pt FGA’s taken 39.7%

Did not play: Seniors**: Beal, Reid-Knight and Soph*** JUCO McKennon

By the stats the teams appeared to be very even. The winning team got to the foul line more 21 attempts to the losing teams 10, but the winning team was 7 for 25 for threes and the losing team was 10 for 31. BOTH TEAMS MADE 32 field goals. WINNING TEAM HAD 72 FGA AND LOSING TEAM HAD 69. Winning team made 11 turnovers the losing team 13. Both good stats for good decision making and valuing the basketball. Rebounding was about even 38 for losing team 35 for the winners. Assists close winning team 17 and losing team 20.

Hidden outstanding stat of the scrimmage was the 2 point shooting percentages. Winning team was 22 for 41 for 53.7% and the losing team was 22 for 41 for 59.5%.

Combined they were 47 for 83 for an outstanding 55.3% for 2 point field goal shooting.

Biggest weakness for both teams was their 3 point shooting. Winning team was 7 for 25 and losing team was 10 for 31. Combined 17 for 56 just 30.3 percent and taking 56 of 1421 3 point attempts which was 39.7% of 3’s of FGA’s.

The “PIT” should be an easier gym to shoot 3’s then the Cross Insurance Center is because it has a better shooting background, plus Maine practices there a lot more then they will at the CIC once they start playing games. Maybe it was just an off day from beyond the arc.

6’2″ Wes Myers  transfer guard from Niagara lead the winning team with 22  points and was backed up by 6’9″ Senior Marco Pirovic with 17 points. Fleming and Calixe added 14 points.

For the losing team 5’9″ returning sophomore Guard Ryan Bernstein had 21 points and 6’5 guard JUCO transfer Ilke Er had 19 points, 6’8″ center Vincent Eze added 14 points

How about the next intra-squad scrimmage break the teams up into the new players for this year vs. returning players.

New-Myers, McKennon, Fleming, Howard, Er, Evans, Howard and Eze..6 guards and 2 front court players

Returnees-Beal, Pirovic, Reid-Knight, Calixe, Melmed, Stoiljkovic. Bernstein, Ward..6 guard and 2 front court players

Good way to see how they match up against each other.

As of now it looks like a very  good move to go after JUCO players with experience instead of more unproven freshmen. 6’5″ guard Ilke Er, (19 points and 13 reboubnds in the scrimmage) 6’2″ guard Austin Howard and 5’10” guard Jaquan McKennon are the JUCO’s and 6’6″ forward Andrew Fleming and 6’5″ guard Dan Evans ae the freshmen with Fleming right out of Oxford Hills High School of Maine (had a good scrimmage with 14 points and 11 rebounds) and Evans from England with 1 year of graduate prep ball in the states.

Wes Myers was thought to be one of the best if not the best player on the roster last year even though he could not play because of transferring from Niagara and had to sit out and is a junior this season.

The new 8 players seem to be a little more athletic then the returning players.

Veterans Soph Bernstein and  senior Pirovic both had good scoring games and Bernstein added 8 assists to his 21 points.

I would pay to see this 8 new players vs. 9 returning players intra-squad scrimmage. Do this an advertise it and I believe they would get a good crowd.
