High school hoops for boys and girls returns for action on Sunday, October 2nd at the Skeehan Gym at the Hampden Rec facility for the Maine Hoops Fall program for Eastern Maine.
I will post the actual game schedule as soon as I receive it (to assign the officials for the games). Usually on Wednesday or Thursday of each week for the next Sunday’s games.
In the fall the teams are more apt to be school teams as teams try to get ready for the coming season which starts on Monday, November 21 for tryouts and practices.
Remember high school coaches cannot coach these teams because of the mpa sports season policy. In fact, here is how silly part of this Sports Season Policy is. The rule that states HS Coaches cannot even attend to watch their players play even though they pay an admission.
The Spring teams are more apt to be all-star teams as they seek to qualify for the national AUU tournaments.
So, those basketball fans with basketball withdrawal symptoms can start to take care of their basketball withdrawal by attending these games. The games at Hampden will be held starting at 8:30am and usually run all day on both courts with the last games usually starting at 5;30pm if there are 10 game days on each court. Games will be scheduled for an hour on the half-hour throughout the day.
Games will be held each of the 5 Sundays in October and the first 2 Sundays in November.
There also will be boys and girls middle school and some boys and girls elementary school games.
