August is the best month to work on and to improve shooting skills for any player, female or male, at any level be it elementary school, middle school, high school, prep school, junior college, college or even for the pros for the following reasons:
1: No organized basketball of any type to interfere with working on shooting
2. Best time to break down your shooting fundamentals to improve your shooting percentages because there are no organized games
3. Able to concentrate on just shooting for an entire month
4. Learn how to improve your shooting skills and shooting percentages by correcting the most common shooting errors and how to analyze each shot you make or miss.
5. If you do not get BASKETBALL SHOOTING GARBAGE WHICH IS WHEN YOUR SHOT HITS THE RIM AND STAYS NEAR THE RIM AFTER THE FIRST HIT ON THE RIM WITH A CHANCE TO STILL GO IN OR, If what you get is when your shot hits the rim it bounces away with no chance to go in. BASKETBALL SHOOTING GARBAGE gives you a much better chance to have your ball go in when it hits the rim, this also keeps the ball near the rim for your teammates to get an offensive rebound close to the hoop for put backs on Offensive rebounds. It also does not allow for the ball to bounce far away from the rim which allows your opponents to get long rebounds to start their fast break.
One of the most important basketball fundamentals that coaches at all levels don’t work on as much as they should is SHOOTING. One of the biggest reasons that many don’t is that they cannot demonstrate the shooting skills correctly and successfully themselves.
Teaching and improving shooting skills and percentages is a “do as I do (Demonstrate) , not as a say (telling you how without demonstrating successfully) coaching technique”.
August is the month to work on improving your shooting skills which will improve your shooting percentages from the foul line, for 2 pointers and for 3 pointers.
