Noonan Memorial Tourney leads a busy schedule of summer basketball events

This will be my next to last column for the season and I would like to list several of the Eastern Maine summer basketball events that will be held for the basketball junkie who is looking for events to ease his basketball withdrawal symptoms.

The Clark Noonan 2nd Annual Memorial Basketball Event will be held at Bangor High School June 28-30.

It is for players 16 and older. There will be 20 teams participating and 45 games will be played during the three-day event. The format is 30 pool-play games followed by a 15-game single elimination tournament.

Many outstanding high school, college, and former college players will be taking part.

The money raised will go to a scholarship fund commemorating Noonan, a former Bangor High athlete who was tragically killed in an automobile accident last spring while a sophomore at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish.

He was an outstanding person and this is a great event.

All basketball enthusiasts will want to attend some games in one of the biggest summer basketball events in the Greater Bangor area. Officials donate their time to do these games.
