UMaine Men Drop Home Game to Stonybrook 69-53

The UMaine Men who had beaten Albany, Vermont, Hartford, and BU at home this season could not do it against the AE League Leading Stonybrook Team as they fell down by 23 before finally succoming 69-53.

Maine has just one league game left next weekend against UNH on the road, who beat Maine at Alfond recently.

Today Maine shot 35% from the floor on 20 of 58 asnd Stonybrook shot 42% on 26 of 62.

Maine outshot SB from the 3 point line on 5 for 20 for 25% and SB could only shoot 21% on 3 of 14,

From the foul line Maine was a horrid 53% on 8 for 15 while SB was at 64% on 14 of 22.

Maine had 10 assists to SB’s 11.

Maine had 12 turnovers to SB’s 7.

Maine committed 19 personal fouls to SB’s 16.

Stonybrook lead by 10 35-25 at the half and lead by as many as 23 mid way thru the 2nd half.

Maine falls to 6-9 in the conference and SB goes to 14-2 to keep a hold on lst place.

Maine had 3 players in double figures. Fraser had 15, Edwards 12 anbd Pollar 10.

For Albany who also had 3 players in double figures with Warney with 15, Brenton with 13 and Coley with 12.

Looks like Maine will get either Hartford or Albany in the 4-5 matchup in the opening quarter-final round.

Hartford would be the better choice as Albany would be playing on their home court in the tournament quarter-finals.
