UMaine Men Blow 13 Point Halftime Lead to UMBC, Lose 68-67

The UMaine Men lead by 13 points at halftime 39-26 and allowed UMBC to score 17 unanswered points in the second half from the 11:24 to 5:10 mark.

Maine had taken a two point lead with 6 seconds left in the game on Zarko V’s 3 pointer. However, Brian Neller hit a long downtown 3 to put UMBC in the lead with .6 seconds left in the game. Maines depseration three fell shot of the rim.

Maine outshot UMBC from the floor and the foul line. Maine was 24 for 50 for 48% and UMBC shot 26 of 60 for 43% from the floor. Maine was 11 for 17 from the line for 65% to UMBC’s 9 for 18 for 50%.

UMBC did out shoot Maine from beyond the arc on 8 for 25 for 35% to Maine’s 7 forn25 for 32%.

Maine committed 16 turnovers to UMBNC’s 7. Both teams had 14 assists.

UMBC outscored Maine 26-8 off turnovers.

UMBC moves ahead of Maine in the American East Standings going to 4-5 and 6-16 overall while Maine falls to 3-6 in the conference and 7 and 14 overall..

Maine ad 4 players in double figutreds. Zarko V lead the way with 20, Fraser had 13, Mesghna had 11 and Pollard 10. For UMBC Chris Plummer had 17.

Maine’s next conference game is Tuesday at Boston University.
