UNH Drops UMaine Men 57-54

Last place UNH in the AE Standings dropped the UMaine Men at Alffond tonight 57-54. UNH had a 13 point lead in the first half 35-22 only to see Maine outscore the Wildcats 32-22 in the second half to hang onto a 3 point win 54-54.

Maine drops to 3-6 in the conference and UNH moves to 2-6 and half game behind the Black Bears.

Maine’s comeback in the second half was done without Justin Edwards who injured his ankle in the first half and did not play in the second half. He only played 12 minutes of the first half.

UNH was 20-69 for 33% from the floor, Maine was 21 for 56 for 36%.

UNH was 6 for 15 from 3 point land for 40% and Maine was back to normal at the arc with 4 for 17 for 24%.

Maine was 8 for 12 from the line for 75% and UNH was 11-19 for 55%.

Maine committed 12 turnovers to UNH’s 5.

Maine had just 11 assists and UNH only had 10.

Maine committed 18 fouls to UNH’s 9.

Roads with 18 and Matagrano led UNH with 16 points and Allie Fraser had 20 for UMaine.

With Hartfords loss to Vermont tonight Maine is still behind Hartford in the AE standings and it looks like it may be Hartford 4 vs. Maine 5 in the AE Tourney, unless Maine drops below 5th in the standings.

Stonybrook 1, Vermont 2, Albany 3, BU 4, Hartford 5, Maine 6, UNH 7 UMBC 8 and Binghamton 9 are the current order. Remember BU will not be in the AE Tournament so teams below them move up one spot in the standings.
