UMaine Men Can’t Win in Practice Facility As they Lose to Binghamton 57-56

THe big story or big complaint is that Maine does not play their home games where they practice (Memorial Gym the Pit)and if they did then they would win more ball games.

That theory aquickly went out the window as they lost to cellar dwellar Binghamton 57-56 after holding an 11 point 32-21 lead at the half.

Masine was outscored by Binghamton 36 to 24 in the half that counts to win their first America L’east Conference game and Maine drops to 2-3 in conference play.

Maine shot very poorly, considering that they played, in the place where they practice regularly.

They were outshot by Binghamton from the floor percentage wise as Maine shot just 21 of 59 for 36% and Binghamton was 23-54 for 43%.

Maine shot poorly again from the 3 point line as they were 6 for 26 for a hefty 23% while Binghamton was 4 for 13 for 31%.

Maine outshot the New Yorkers from the line 8-12 for 75% to Bing’s 7 of 14 for 50%.

Maine had 15 assists, but Binghamton only had 7.

Maine committed 11 turnovers 9 below their average and Binghamtom committed 16.

Maine committed 15 fouls to Binghamton’s 14.

Maine had been averaging 20 turnovers a game and 20 plus fouls per game and did reduce those two stats, but their miserable shooting from the floor and from the 3 point line was really their undoing especially agaimnst the Binghamton Zone Defeense.

Edwards was the only Maine polayer in double figures with a dozen and Reed lead Binghamton with 20 and Gray added 14 points.

Maine now plays Vermont on Tuesday.

This is a very embarrassing loss as Binghamton is just 5-45 for the past two years, especially at home on their practice floor.

It looks like it will not be a handicap if the Bears move their home games to Bangor, because it looks like it doesn’t really matter where they practice will really effect the winning percentage that much or their shooting percentages either.
