UMaine Men Win 3rd in a Row, Cut down on Fouls to just 7

UMaine defeated BU 63-58 at Alfond Arena to move into a four way tie for lst place in America East. Maine goes to 1-0 in the conference and 6-8 overall, while BU ffalls to 0-1 in the conference and 6-8 overall.

The biggest improvement for the Bears was they committed only 7 personal fouls and before thos game they were averaging 20 plus. This allowed BU to go just 3 for 5 from the line compared to Maines 11 of 16.

Maine and BU both made 24 field goals. Maine on 24 for 54 for 44% and BU 24 for 51 for 47%.

BU hit 7 of 18 3’s for 39% while Maine struggled again from behind the arc at 4 for 15 for just 26%.

Edwards was held in check by BU as he had just 10 points but managed to dish out 5 assists. Fraser led the way with 17 and Pollard added 13. BU had just 2 players in double digits.

Keeping BU off the foulline was a real key to the game.

The game was tied 26 all at the half and BU got as much as a 6 point lead but Maine came back strong and made clutch foul shots down the stretch when it was close and BU had to foul.
