Maine Women Drop to 1-12 with 82-47 Loss to Virginia Commonwealth University

After scoring 64 points in their last game, the Maine Women scored below 50 for the 4th time in their last 5 losses.

Trailing Virginia Commomwealth by 11 at the half 35-24, they only scored 7 points in the first 8 minutes of the second half as VC scored 22 to put the game out of reach.

Maine shot 18-61 from the floor for 29% to VC’s 34 for 73 for 46%. Maine out shot VC from 3 point land 8 for 24 for 33% to VC’s 8 for 26 for 31%. Neither team shot many fouls shots as both shot 75% Maine on just 4 attempts and 3 makes and VC just 8 attempts and 6 makes.

Maine lost this game on turnovers as they committed 28 to VC’s 11. Maine had 12 assists to VC’s 25. Neither team committed many fouls as Maine committed 14 and VC just 6 for the entire game.

Anderson led Maine with 15 and Walczak had 11. For VC Parks led VC with 24 and they had 5 players in double figures.

Maine has played a very tough non conference schedule and this could pay off in the America East Conference Games.
