UMaine Men Get First Win, But Still Shooting Below 20% from “Teaserland”

The UMaine Mens “United Nations” Black Bears Basketball Team got their first win of the Siena Sunday Afternoon after 4 straight losses.

However, they still shot below 30% from the 3 point line for the game.

They defeated Siena 72-66 at Alfond Arena. Maine still is below 20% from 3 point land even though they made their most 3 pointers in a game this season on 6 for 21 shooting.

Currently they are 15 for 80 for 18.8% from beyond the arc.

Their Combined Field Goal Percentage for 2’s and 3’s is 105 for 290 for just 36.3%

However, they are shooting very well for 2 pointers as the are 90 for 190 for a very respectable 47.4%

They are shooting a respectable 70.0%

Maine is averaging 59.4 ppg offensively and giving up defensively 67.2 ppg.

They have only 57 assists to 80 turnovers total averaging 11+ assists to 18 turnovers per game.

They also have had a problem committing to many personal fouls as they have committed 95 personal fouls for an average of 19 per game.

Another plus is that they do have 5 players who have made a three pointer this year.

Maine heads to Northeastern on Wednesday nite and they will have to improve their shooting percentages and their defense if they expect a win. Maine has got good talent but it has got to come together very quickly because they will be in conference play pretty soon.
