Thirty games to be played in Bangor Auditorium Basketball Jamboree Aug. 8-12

The first of several Basketball Jamborees being sponsored by the Bangor Auditorium will be held this week. The following teams are entered:

— Five boys middle school teams: Ellsworth, Holbrook, Pemetic of Southwest Harbor, Rangers of Topsfield and the G-Force from Glenburn.

— Seven girls high school teams: Black Bears North I and II, Addision of Narraguagus, Orono, Schenck, Dexter and Orono.

— Seven boys high school teams: Brewer, Bucksport, Coastal Security of Rockland-GV, Deer Isle, Schenck and Stearns.

The games will be held on Aug. 8-12. Teams signed up for the number of games they wished to play. Teams are playing two, three, four or five games for a total of 30 games.

5 p.m.: Ellsworth-G-Force BMS

8 p.m.: Black Bear North One-Dexter GHS

Friday, Aug.10

Saturday, Aug. 11

Because this jamboree is being held in the two week hands-off period for coaches, a policy instituted by the Maine Principals’ Association, the regular high school coaches of these teams will not be coaching. Parents or nonschool basketball coaches will be coaching the teams.

There will be a daily admission charge for each day which allows spectators to attend each game on the one admission fee: adults $4, students $2 and Children 12 and under $1.
