Western Kentucky Comes Back from a 16 Point Deficet to Edge Mississippi Valley State 59-58 to Win Opening Dance Game

Western Kentucky trailed MVSU 53-37 with 4:48 to go in the game and then went on a 15 to 1 run and then finally outscored Misssippi Valley 22-5 in the last 4:48 to go in the game.

Western Kentucky overcame 29 turnovers while MVSU committed 17 but 7 of those were in the last 4:48 which resulted in some easy baskets for Western Kentucky.

MVSU lead at half time 23-19. Both teams shot poorly throughout the game. Western Kentucky was 19-63 for field goals for 30.2%, shot just 2 for 17 from the 3 point arc for 11,8% and just 19-32 from the line for 594%. MVSU shot 22-61 from the floor for 36.1%, 4 for 22 from 3 point land for 18.2% and was 10 for 22 from the foul line for just 45.5%.

Western K had 10 assists to MVSU’s 12.

Western Kentucky had 2 players in double figures with 11 and 3 with 9, while MCSU had Burwell with 20 to lead the  them.

A great comeback for the Western Kentuckians and a very disappoint loss for the Mississippi team to lose with having a 16 point lead with just 4:48 minutes to go in the game.

But they folded under the Western kentucky pressyure defense in the last 4:48. Also, Western kentucky had to come from 14 down to win their Conference Tournament Championship Game.

Leading by 3 59-56 with 16.9 seconds to go Western Kentucky chose not to foul and let MVSU get an open look from the corner that missed which would have tied the game and sent it to overtime and they scored on an offensive rebound put back at the buzzer too make the final score Western kentucky 59 MVSU 58.

It wasn’t very good basketball, but the alst 4:48 was very exciting.
