Poor Shooting Mars Mens Maine-Vermont Quarter-final American East Conference Tourney Game

Was it poor shooting or good defense in the Maine-Vermont quarter-final American East Mens Basketball Conference Toiurnament?

Maine lead Vermont at the half 22-14. Maine lead as late in the game by 6:15 with 6:15 to go in the game. But that is when Mike Glass took over and rallied the McLemore less Maine Team to a 50-40 win. Both teams shot poorly from the floor,

Maine was 0-17 from the 3 point line and Vermont was 4-19. At one point in the game both teams combined were 1 for 24 from behind the arc.

Maine outscored Vermont from the floor 17 field goals to 16. Maine was 17-53 for 32% and Vermont was 16 for 50 for 32%. Maine was 0-17 for 00% for 3’s while Vermoint could only manage 4 for 19 for 21%

Both teams shot well from the line as Maine went 6 fot 7 85.7% and Vermont won the game at the bline on 12 for 17 for 82%.

Maine had only 7 assists and had twice as many turnovers 12 then assists 7. Vermont had 11 assists and 13 turnovers. Maines only playe in double figures was Fraser with 10 on 5-9 shooting and he also had 7 rebounds. For Vermont Mike Glass’s 16 paced the winners.

Mane ends their season at 12-17 and Vermont moves on to meet the winner of the last quarterfinal game scheduled for 8:15pm with 4th seed BU playing 5th Seeded Hartford.

This marks the 7th consecutive year the Black Bears have lost in the Opening Quarter-finals or playin games.

Maine played hard, did a good job defensively against Vermont, but just could not score from the floor enough to offset Vermonts success at the foul line.
