Matt Alley leads Jonesport-Beals To Their First State Championship since 1993 in a 83-45 Victory over Forest Hills

For a program with such success as Jonesport Beals has had over the years, this years team ended a 19 year drought today at the ACC.

The Jonesport-Beals Royals who had not won a state championship since 1993 won one today by handling Western Maine D Champs Forest Hills easily in a 83-45 victory. Matt Alley lead the charge as he scored his 1000th point in the game He actually ended his career with 1013 points..

JB half court trap forced  many turnovers which resulted in transition layups as FH committed 27 turnovers for the game. Jonesport-Beals also turned the ball over 19 times.

JB shot a blistering 55.7% on 36 for 65 from the floor, were 7 for 17 from 3 point land  for 41.2% and hit 5 for 13 from the line for 38%. Forest Hills shot 32,7 from the floor on 17-53, had 2 makes of 12  from the 3 point line for 16.7% and went 9 for 15 from the foul line for 60%.

Even with team Leader Garret Beal saddled much of the game with foul trouble as he picked up his 2nd foul with just 4:30 to go in the second period. He also picked up his 4th personal foul with 7:38 to go in the 4th period, Despite having to play without him much of the game, JB just had too many weapons for FH to handle.

Matt Alley with 26 and Garret Beal with 16 paced the winners and FH was lead by Evan Worceter’s 16 points.

Jonesport Beals has some outstanding basketball talent and if they played a class A schedule for this season they could more than hold their own in Class A.
