“Off the Rims” Pick For Player of the Year in Eastern Maine for All Classes

“Off the Rims” player of the year in Eastern Maine for All 4 Classes is Hampden Academy’s Christian McCue. He lead the Broncos to the Eastern Maine Class A Championship and leads them into the State Final Saturday nite with a 20-1 record at the C,mberland Community Civic Center in Portland against the top seeded Deering Rams.

McCue who is the third in his family to be an outstanding basketball player at Hampden Academy as were his older brothers Jesse and Dan, both who were outstanding high school players and both went on to have good college careers.

McCue a 6-2″ point guard is a very good three point shooter, ball handler and slasher to the basket. If you play off him he will hit the three, close him out and he will penetrate by you and dish off to teammates or finish his drive. If you foul him, it just adds to the problem of covering him as he is an excellent foul shooter.. He lead his team in scoring and assists this season.

A player who is an unselfish team leader, willing to take the big shot with the pressure on was selected as the Most Valuable Player in the Eastern Maine Class A Turnament. He is also a finalist for Mr. Basketball.

He ran the Bronco offense very well, got the ball to Fred Knight inside, shot the three, got to the foul line with his drives. tough to foul because he is such an  excellent foul shooter.

In fact all three of the McCue boys are excellent shooters, especially from 3 point line and the foul line.

He will be the key player for Hampden as they meet the tough Deering Rams Saturday Nite.
