UMaine Men Use Foul Line to Beat UNH 71-58

The UMaine Mens team defeated UNH tonight at Orono 71-58 by going 20 for 21 from the foul line and after sufferring thru a 5 for 19 effort from 3 point land.

This win which snaps a 3 game losing streak puts Maine into a tie with UNH at 6-9 for 6th place. Maine must beat Stonybrook on Sunday and UNH has to lose at Home to Binghamton who upset Vermont last nite 57-53 for Maine to get 6th place. If they finish 7th the odds are they will get Vermont.

Maine also had 4 players in double figures and one with 8. They showed good scoring balance along with the boutstasnding foul shooting. McLemore had 16, Fraser 14, Edwards 13, Singleton 12 and Allison 8.

They had more assists then turnovers another positive, but they only had 12 assists. Would like to see that total higher..They shot 23 of 53 from the floor for 43.3&, 5 for 19 from 3 point land for 26.3%, but won the game with 20-21 from the line for an outstanding 955.3&. They held UNH to just 20 of 53 from the floor for 37.7%, gave up 8 for 21 from 3 point land for 38.1% and 10-16 from the line for 62.5%.

Maine played well in a must win game. Hopefully this will turn them around as they get ready for the American East Conference Tourney next week at Hartford.
