Mt. Blue edges EL 52-49 to Gain Eastern A Final

Cam Sennick was slowed down by EL’s junk defenses a box and 1 and diamond and 1 and when EL got behind they had to go man to man and it was enough to get Cam to the foul line were he sealed the deal for the Cougars. Sennick was held to 11 points as Hart had 12 points to lead the Cougars. Haj-Hersi led all scorers with 23 points.

Mt. Blue trailed at the half 26-25 and out scored the Red Eddies 27 to 23 in the second half to gain the win. Mt. Blue made 3 poor basketball decisions in the last 60 seconds in the game that gave EL a chance for a overtime. Mt. Blue was leading 52-46 when a nice steal turned into a player control foul instead of bringing the ball out and run the clock with under a minute to play.

Then a few sconds later a Mt. Blue foul on the far sideline sent EL to the line where they made the first missed the second and then got an offensive rebound and scored on a put back to make it 52-49.

Mt. Blue proceeded to turn the ball over on a muff near the sideline on the throw in, but EL could not connect. Mt. Blue got the rebound and then traveled with .3 seconds left and EL could not get a shot off to tie the game.

Mt. Blue showed flashes of excellent athleticism play but the Red Eddies gave them all they wanted and then some.

Game stats will be posted as soon as I have them.
