MDI Boys are the first undefeated Class B Team to be 20 from the Big East B Conference since the 1993 John Bapst Crusaders went 22-0 winning the State B Championship. In fact, Bapst is the last Big East B Team to win a State B Title. For the most part he KVAC has dominated Eastern B for 19 years.

MDI took an17-13 first period lead, led at the half 29-26, by 42-40 at the end of the 3rd period and then had their best period of the game when it counted as the raced to a 55-49 win.

MDI had success in getting the ball inside to 6’2″ J.  Burke who lead the scoring for the Islanders with 18 points as Brooks led the scoring with  21 for the Wildcats.

Play was ragged throughout the game, but MDI did have the best of the floor play in the 2nd half. Just too many poor shot attempts by PI in their anxiety to get back into the game after they fell behind in the last period..

Now we have a KVAC-Big East Final as MDI will take on the upset minded Gardner Tigers who will be looking for their 2nd consecutive upset of the tourney after upsetting rival Medomak Valley.
