Gardner Stops Medomak Valley’s 3 game win streak over them 57-46

Tough to beat a good team 2 teams let alone 3 times and then 4 times. That is what 2nd seeded Medomak Valley found out this afternoon as they were upset by a good agressive Gardner team 57-46. Medomak Valley lead after the first period 13-8 at half-time25-24 and at the end of the 3rd period 38-36, but Gardner owned the fourth period as they out scored MV 21 to 8 to move onto their first ever Eastern maine Class B Championship game

Medomak Valley did not utilize their inside advantage of junior 6’7″ J. Murray as he was held in check with just 12 points on 4 FG’s and 4 foul shots. He only received 7 entry passes at the low block the entire game and he also was saddled with a little foul trouble picking up his 3rd foul with 2:30 to go in the 3rd period.

2 of his field goals came on offensive put backs.

Medomak perimeter players simply just did not look to get Murray the ball enough.

Jake Palmer had an outstanding game for the Tigers with 33 points on 11 FG’s and 11 for 11 from the line. He made clutch free thtrows down the stretch as Medomak had to foul to stop the clock

Also, key in the game was a technical foul on Medomak for having 6 players on the court after a timeout they had called at the 3:49 mark of the 4th period  with Gardner leading 45-41. Palmer made both foul shots and Medomak could not get any closer the rest of the game.

Palmer’s performance was the highlight of the Eastern B Boys Tourney so far. Gardner looked like they really felt they could be Medomak and Medomak looked like they felt that too. Tough to beat a good team 4 times, especially when you don’t go to your real advantage inside.
