Hartford Holds Maine to One Double Figure Scorer in 64-50 Win

Hartford held Maine to just one double figure scorer last night. Pollard had 10, while the big three of McLemore 5, Fraser 6 and Edwards 7 had just 18 points between them.

Maine was 17 for 46 from the floor, 5 for 17 from 3 point land and 11-16 from the foul line, while Hartford was 25-55 from the floor, 8-21 from 3 land and 6-10 from the line. Hartford had 9 turnovers to Maine’s 17 and they had 21 assists to Maine’s 9.

Maine’s only  5 conference wins have been 2 over winless Binghamton, 2 over 3-11  UMBC and 1 over UNH who is ahead of Maine 6-8 by a game in the loss column. Next Wednesdays home match UNH who Maine beat at Durham is extremly important as the Bears finish up their conference schedule at League Leading 12-2 Stonybrook.

Maine has the talent to get an upset win over whoever they play in the opening round of the AE Tourney. They have got to play very hard for 40 minutes, get the ball inside first to Fraser so that if he is double teamed it will open the 3’s for open looks, play together as a team and get good game adjustments from the coaching staff….. The potential is there….now is the time to reach it..

One way to offset this poor second half conference season is to get to at least the semi-finals of the tourney, and if they di that you never know what may happen.
